The Log Book Servicing of your new vehicle does not void your warranty with our TACC accreditation and saves timely trips to the big city.

Total Automotive and 4WD are the only car service workshop down south that have a Safe-t-stop machine which allows us to accurately test your Brakes, Shock Absorbers and Wheel Alignment with a printout. Total Automotive and 4WD carry this test out on EVERY service undertaken.

Passenger Vehicles, Light SUV and 4WD servicing and repairs to ALL makes & Models are our specialty. We have the Equipment and skills to carry out ALL diagnostic work and solve any issues with your vehicle.  We have the biggest workshop in the Huon and with wide entry to our workshop we can service and repair your work vehicle/s without the need to take your car to several places to get all the jobs needed on your vehicle, we endeavour to get you back on the road quickly.

For vehicles newly arrived in Tasmania needing to be inspected for a change in registration, we have AIS accreditation and as an Approved Inspection Station we can look after all your Tasmanian registration requirements for your car, bike, trailer, or camper/caravan. 

  Urgent repairs and breakdowns are also accommodated. No repair is too big or too small.

Don’t forget our Automotive Diagnostic Dyno facilities, plus we now offer Diesel Tuning which we can tailor a package including Tune, Clutch and Exhaust to get the very best from your 4WD.

We have extended operating hours, Mon – Thurs from 7.30am – 5.30pm. Other times by appointment only.

In Oct, 2022 a client came in with his 1999 Nissan Navara to have a turbo kit fitted as it was struggling power wise on steep inclines. And this is what Martin had to say once he received his car back and had put it through it's paces.

"Just thought I’d drop you a quick email to let you know how pleased I am with the performance of the Navara now that it has had the turbo fitted.

The power and torque sit perfectly in the rev range. Fifth gear acceleration from 80km/h is perfect and has made overtaking manoeuvres much safer and easier to achieve.

The steep climb out of Hobart on the Southern Outlet used to end in third gear and revving hard if I was to have any chance of meeting the 8okm/h speed limit. If a slow car interrupted my run I couldn’t even achieve that meagre milestone. The vehicle now easily does 80km/h throughout the climb in fifth gear. It feels like a new vehicle.

On the 18th November, 2022 building works started very early in the morning (you can still see the mist in the distance).

Total Automotive and 4WD are excited to share their workshop growth journey

We had poured the concrete pad earlier this year down one side of the building, so we could extend our workspace and grow the business.

Steel frame work was installed  to he concrete pad and existing building, for the 5 concrete wall panels and roofing sheets to be fixed to.

The concrete panels built locally by Duggans in Cradoc, where transported from their facility to our site. Each panel weighed a whopping 4.4 tonnes.

The crane arrived not long after and the lifting and placing of panels went smoothly and was completed in around 2 hours.

Now that the walls are up, the next stage will be to put the roof on making it weather tight.  Once this is done, the inner wall will be removed for access into the extension and the final fit out can be completed.

Automotive mechanical workshop extension in Huonville

This grand old lady spent a luxuriously long 12 months with us and the team at Total Automotive and 4WD spent over 100 hours on it to achieve this perfection. 

The owner wanted to install a LS1 Small Block V8 Engine and 4L60E Automatic Gearbox into this classic car. So over this time we modified and custom built many of the parts required to make the interchange of the motor possible .... it required a lot of brain power and problem solving skills to make it work.

This 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood is still the traditional Left-Hand drive with column shift. It is a 4 door with hardtop with beautifully upholstered bench seats. It sports Dual Headlights and distinctive chrome trim.

The owner is thrilled with the result and now this restored Cadillac is regularly booked for Weddings and Private Functions. Who can resist this stylish ride? 

Custom Built by Owner and affectionally called the Transformer Car

This unique, one off custom built vehicle is fully engineered and registered for on road driving. With no roof, this open air design is great for good weather driving adventures. The only catch is that the driver and passengers must all wear helmets.

Classic car restoration and Custom builds

Just over 25yrs ago Mark and Ellita Oost started their business journey as part of the local Mobile Service Station on the main road in Huonville. The workshop consisted of 3 bays with a couple of hoists.

We were soon bursting at the seams with work and an opportunity arose for us to purchase a vacant block of land on Wilmont Road. 

With the generous help of family and friends we erected a brand new workshop and it was filled with all the best automotive equipment. Soon after more concrete was poured and the Office was built. But that wasn't the end. 

As the work load grew we decided to pour more concrete and build a second workshop at the rear to cater for Tyres, Gearbox rebuilds and long term projects.

Now Total Automotive and 4WD offers 6 Bays, 8 Hoists and a custom built Dyno Tuning room plus state of the art Safe-T-Stop testing for vehicle servicing. However, expansion still continues with an extension to the side of our workshop planned for completion by end of 2022.

Early 2022 Total Automotive and 4WD proudly became an Authorised REPCO Service Centre with the new signage installation almost completed. What a journey!

18.7.22 This job is currently in our workshop. It started as a possible water leak. We investigated the matter and after giving the customer our report the job has GROWN bigger.

The customer would now like to repair and or replace many more parts. A sensible move to keep his car performing at it's peak.

At the moment, the Holden looks more like a Porsche ... with most of the Engine components laying in the boot!
